Fifth and eight standards students board exams will be conducted confirms education minister: Education minister Sengottaiyan confirms that the board exams for the fifth and eighth standard students will be conducted as planned. VCK party president Thirumavalavan severely criticized the exams as state-sponsored terrorism on young school students, and it cannot be justified.
Also, there are confusions of where the fifth and eight students should write their board exams. Different circulars are issued stating they should write the exams in the same school, and some say that it should be written in nearby larger schools which are three to five kilometers from the studying school.
A few months back central government announced that all the students studying in the fifth standard and eight standards should write board exams. Tamil Nadu education department followed the central government directions and started all arrangements for the board exams for the fifth and eighth standard students. Many eminent educationalists have expressed their opinions against such board exams.
VCK president Thirumavalavan spoke to the press regarding the fifth and eight standard board exams in Kanchipuram. He was critical of it and said many things about it including
- Conducting exams for the fifth and eighth students is state-sponsored terrorism against the young kids
- The exams are nothing but a psychological attack on the students
- The exams cannot be justified at any level
- The government should drop the plan of conducting such exams
