Kanika Kapoor, who took the coronavirus to Rashtrapathi Bhavan and parliament, is now charged under sec. 269 of IPC. Kanika Kapoor, the famous Bollywood singer, becomes the first celebrity in India to test positive for coronavirus. She also becomes the first person to be booked under an FIR for negligently spreading coronavirus infection.
Last week Kanika Kapoor returned from London. She skipped the quarantine at the Mumbai airport and went to Lucknow to participate in a private party. BJP leader and former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia was at the party. Her son Dushyant Singh, an MP of the Lok Sabha, also accompanied his mother to the party. Now both of them have self quarantined.
But the problem does not end there. Before self quarantining, Vasundhara Raje Scindia met the Indian president along with a BJP delegation at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan. It was after the party with coronavirus positive tested Kanika Kapoor. Meanwhile, Dhusyant Singh has gone to the parliament and also taken part in the transport commission meeting. Many MPs who were near him in parliament and meeting like Derek O Brien have now self quarantined themselves.
Also, now the authorities are checking the videos of the party. It is to identify all those who were in contact with the singer. But it is not only the party that Kanika went after testing positive for coronavirus. She had traveled a lot and also alleged to have thrown a party herself. All these add panic to Mumbai and Lucknow. With Mumbai already in lockdown with the maximum number of coronavirus infected cases in India, now Lucknow has shut shop except for essential needs.
It is a crime as per Indian law to not reveal the positive testing or the coronavirus infection. It could create the worst feared stage 3, where the original cause of infection may not be found, and that could lead to devastation across India with its vast population.
