Blood Pressure is basically the pressure exerted by blood on the arteries walls and it is measured by sphygmomanometer. Change in BP affects the arteries, heart, kidneys, eyes and brain. A healthy diet can eliminate all the issues arising out of abnormal BP.
Since 2006, World Hypertension Day has been celebrated on May 17 every year. We all know that the recommended blood pressure should be less than 140/90 mm Hg for healthy persons while it should be 130/80 mm Hg for diabetes and kidney diseased patients. If it is abnormal, it leads to heart attack, heart diseases and stroke. However, the standard blood pressure level gets varied according to different age groups.
'Know Your Numbers' is the theme for World Hypertension Day 2018. Hypertension can be controlled by some simple daily exercises to make ourselves active and also by taking precaution measures like having less salt or sugar, having a healthy diet, quitting smoking and reducing stress.
A periodic medical checkup would ensure the good health of an individual. In recent days, even people below 30 age are subjected to high blood pressure issues. According to recent reports, 1 in every 3 Indians, 1 in 7 adults in the UK, 3 in every 10 Nigerians, suffer from hypertension.
Hypotension is the opposite case of experiencing low blood pressure due to inadequate blood flow to body's organs and similar to high BP, the affected organs are heart and kidneys in major.
